Fact Checking 'El-Rushbo'

Post by Bret Callentine »

I'm a big fan of hitting FactCheck.org after any big speech or political event, but I didn't see anything come out after Rush Limbaugh's address to CPAC on Saturday.

Does anyone know (please provide a link) any site that has done the research regarding his statements?

Well, for starters, he did misquote the Constitution...

I don't watch him, but some people I know follow him religiously.

My feeling is that he plays the rabblerouser, and factual accuracy is not expected from that ilk. He is in the entertainment business, not journalism, and will be employed as long as the ratings hold up. If he became more accurate and less bombastic, his audience would go elsewhere and his show would disappear. When he is attacked, however, that gives him more publicity, and usually the attackers are just the sort of people his listeners dislike, so an attack is likely to increase his audience and exposure.

Maybe since everything they say at CPAC is absurd, they figured they shouldn't bother?

Sorry, couldn't resist!

Media Matters is a non-prof that looks at Conservative bias in the media. All of their articles are sourced. Here's one on Rush's speech at CPAC

Thanks for the link.

I've been to that site before, but maybe it's time to add it back to the rotation.
