oil

an abiotic or biotic explanation does not make oil very much more or less limited or accessible. either process appears to require millions of years to kick up a large supply.

gold and iron and metal ores also come from deep under the earth. we don't think of those as being unlimited resources.

heat and pressure can turn coal into some type of gases and oils. coal is frequently hundreds of feet deep. We do know coal came from the remains of surface life.

For a billion or two billion years life on Earth was bacteria. thick films of bacteria and similar organisms. simple plants and algae had a few hundred million years. A lot of it dies and settles on the sea floor. Even Ohio used to be under some kind of Ocean. that's why we find fossils of giant fish and trilobites here.

We hear of the remains of villages being excavated from a dozen feet or so under the surface. they're only a few thousand years old.
