Frank Zappa

Post by Tim Liston »

Frank Zappa died fifteen years ago tomorrow of prostate cancer. I'll be out-of-pocket tomorrow so I am posting now.

As you can see from my favorite Zappa youtube link (click here) he could play the guitar a little bit. But IMO he's better remembered as a songwriter/composer.

Chunga's Revenge & Keep It Greasy
Stinkfoot.
Stairway to Heaven?
Montana.
Zoot Allures and Trouble Every Day
City of Tiny Lights
Teenage Prostitute.
Flakes.

and of course...

Peaches en Regalia

I saw Zappa live several times in the late 70's. The man was a genius. The fact that he is dead and Justin Timberlake is still alive is proof there is no god....

Tim

Nice post.

My favorites albums would have to be Rueben and the Jets, 200 Motels and Hot Rats, which also featured Don Sugarcane Harris on violin.

Trouble Coming Every Day
40 years old, and sounds, sadly, like it was written yesterday.

200 Motels
Frank's movie of a band on the road.

Willie The Pimp
Always in the top guitar solos of all time lists

Frank you are missed.

I think at some point there is a prostate cancer awareness undertone to this thread. Get Tested!!

I like his song about the 40 dollar bill. it is one of the few that WNCX would play frequently enough for me to remember.
