This has been a very difficult issue for me. While I am not currently living in California it is where I was raised and the majority of my good friends from school still live there. Two of my friends are gay and have been with their partners for over a decade. It does make me sad that they don't have the same marital rights as I do. The big thing for me has been the involvement of my church in the passing of Prop 8, apparently they are now possibly going to be fined a great deal. I am disturbed because in the past the Mormon church has remained out of the political arena. While the church has made their standpoint on homosexuality known they have to my knowledge never told members to donate their money or time to a political issue. Apparently the church also sponsored two websites. So right now I am upset because I don't think that pushing religious views on the public through involvement in creating legislation and changing a states constitution is appropriate for any religion. We do have separation of church and state and I am actually pleased to see the the various religious organization are being investigated. Even if I am a member of one of those churches I don't believe that it is right for them to break the law, in fact in my mind they should be held to a higher standard. Anyhow just wanted to get all that out. Venting a bit.

Thank you for taking a stand.
I have a couple of Mormon friends and they have been very upset about this activity.
It's a shame that these churches think that others need to live their beliefs and they would also throw money, that could be used to help the poor has been going to efforts that deny civil rights.
It's very sad.

Here's a fun little video by some of our favorite stars doing a skit about Prop 8. Guess who's playing Jesus?
