Bush proposed a new agency to oversee Freddie and Fannie but the Dems blocked it at a committe level (watch the video and listen to the Dems lie)In 2 years this president and congress will have the chance to right a couple wrongs, and if they choose not to, then and only then will they be complicit. Much like GWB being complicit in Fannie, Freddy, the meltdown, the deficit etc.

Why do I have to follow your standards on this board?sharon kinsella wrote:Stephen - First of all, do not even allude to the ef word on the deck. Bad taste, lack of judgement.
Second - The managers have failed, man up dude. Your people lost. Your people messed up.
Third - Man up.
Which, in case you haven't picked up on it and can't figure it out on your own "man up" is a sexist use of language and you need to re-think your use of the English language and consistent dependency on YouTube to illustrate your rants..
PS Are you saying that JOB is a woman?

Not mine - just remember the audience that reads this. That language is out of line for a community board. Obviously you don't know that. Oh and I have a mouth like a truck driver so believe me I edit myself.
I wasn't referring to anyone specifically, that phrase, though, is sexist. It's the 2000's not the 70's, remember.

Wow, you mean it was the Democrats that had to take a stand against larger government, expanded spending and more regulation. What a world, what a world.

Phil, Thank God the Dems stopped the Republicans... The Dems were right... There was absolutely nothing wrong with Fannie and Freddie..Phil Florian wrote:Stephen Eisel wrote:Bush proposed a new agency to oversee Freddie and Fannie but the Dems blocked it at a committe level (watch the video and listen to the Dems lie)In 2 years this president and congress will have the chance to right a couple wrongs, and if they choose not to, then and only then will they be complicit. OK. It's a video that is pieced together for the sole purpose of making a republican point. Not much different than listening to anything Rush Limbaugh has to say. It has an agenda instead of being nuetral. That alone makes it lose credibility in my eyes.
Stephen, constantly pointing fingers and saying "they did it" won't solve a damn thing. Both republicans and democrats have had a hand in the situation this country is in and it's all the finger pointing that keeps anything from getting done.
.......just sayin'.

Ed, It is not just a pieced together video. It is video excerpt from the House Financial Services Committee meeting where Republicans called for a regulatory overhaul in the housing finance industry. The Dems rhetoric at this meeting speaks for itself. Democrats blocked Republicnan's efforts to overhaul Fannie and Freddie a total of 18 times between 2001 and 2008.Ed Dickson wrote:OK. Is that a threat?

Yeah, for the sake of continued Democrat majority please become more militant.

The republican party is a joke when it comes to organizing protest and supporting it's causes. The Republicn party needs to become more militant and push its supporters to also become more militant. Is that a threat? Or just an ironic misstatement since it seems to be that the Republicans are militant enough. Lockstep, if you will. That is why they lost this time. They picked a militant stance on too few issues that resonated any more with the bulk of the electorate.
PS A lot of conservatives stayed home on November 5th

neo-conservatives love the 1950s and 1940s. progressive taxes, corporate taxes, and capital gains taxes were much higher then. Union membership was much higher then. international trade was much lower then. and there was a lot less tv.
