Obama in Des Moines

Post by David Lay »

Jennie & I saw Barack Obama in downtown Des Moines yesterday.

An estimated 25,000 packed Western Gateway Park to catch Barack's nearly 45-minute speech. It was a sea of people and media, and CNN's Susanne Malveaux and Wolf Blitzer were spotted. Wolf is pretty short in person!

It was so much fun and a very positive atmosphere. It was a very different atmosphere than the Kerry rally in 04 in the weeks before that election.

I was sure there would be protesters, but there weren't any to be seen. Lots of kids in Halloween costumes though! :)

25,000 people showed up and that is more than 10% of the city's population! :D
