Is ACORN Flap Pre-emptive?
Must just be the cynic in me. But, with all the talk over ACORN, and the inferrences being drawn by the GOP, is it just possible that the groundwork is being laid to call into question the results of an election that the Republicans expect to lose?

I think you might be on to something.
Incidentally if ACORN is trying to falsely register people, why are they flagging suspicious voter ID cards and giving the board of election the employees information that registered those people? It sounds like they are working with the Boards of Elections so the whole thing doesn't make sense to me.

The point could be valid if there wasn't already a fairly extensive record in Ohio and other states that ACORN has acted improperly with respect to voter registration fraud.
And that is the beauty of this pre-emptive questioning of the validity of an election yet to take place! In a Rovean kinda way.
Registration fraud does not (necessarily) equal voter fraud. The fraudulent registration turns into a fraudulent vote ONLY when some poll worker checks the ID in St. Louis and decides that Mickey Mouse can vote and the signature matches the one on the voter rolls.
For there to be fraud in the election, as opposed to the registration, we're gonna need forged ID's (that match the fraudulent registration) and signatures that match those on that registration. A conspiracy that deep would do Oliver Stone proud.
So, I think I'm gonna stick with the preemptive sore loser thing. It'll sell much better than hanging chads or the Supremes flipping a coin.

Well, in a Rovean way the ACORN issue would be way down on my list for a GOP loss, wouldn't even make my top five.
In Sorosian way, the ACORN matter would probably be very high on the list of reasons for a Democrat loss.
So Mr. Endress you are correct there could reason someone could play the sore loser on the ACORN chip.

In all this fracas about ACORN, obviously, the republicans are saying that ACORN is doing the fraudulent registration deliberately.
So, they need to do psychiatric screening of people registered? They need to do background checks on each of these people to make sure they never registered before? Blood tests to make sure their identity matches the one they sign with? Tail these people to make sure they're not plants for the "other" party?
This whole brouhaha is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen. ACORN turns the registrations in in batches that they have scrutinized and designated as "Duplicates", "Incomplete" and "Questionable" along with the ones that are deemed to be fully accurate. They are being accused for following the rules of most of the election boards to turn back in every registration form that was issued.
This whole thing is a phony ploy to eliminate disenfranchised voters from the rolls. Heaven forbid that the people that have suffered the most economically under the last 8 years of the republican regime, have their say.
I smell "dirty tricks".

The right will do anything at all, except some soul searching--about neocon overreaching; big government expansion under Bush; catastrophic mismanagement and incompetence; torture; the diminishment of America's reputatino in the world; the politicization of 9/11; the embrace of lowest-common denomnator politics (yeah, Bush is a guy Id have a beer with); the embrace of religious fundamentalism; and endless and relentless culture war mongering.
I for one think it is still quite possible that McCain will win. But no matter; no matter what happens, the right will conjure up anything--ACORN, bill ayers--anything at all to avoid looking at themselves and what they have wrought

Charles Page - The only sources for the information that you wrote about in your comment, leads back to press releases, ads and press conferences that the GOP, RNC etc. have held and put out there.
I've been researching your statement and I can't find anything that isn't quoting from the above sources or a conservative blog.
Just another distortion and distraction?

Sharon – I first heard it when McCain said it in the last debate. It’s in factcheck link below about a quarter down the page.

The link in ‘misrepresented’ goes to Pittsburgh Tribune Review who apparently looked up the Federal Election Commission records.
Excerpts from the Pittsburgh Tribune Review link
According to FEC records, the Obama campaign paid Citizens Services Inc. $832,598.29, from Feb. 25 to May 17.
Citizens Services Inc. is headquartered at the same address as ACORN's national headquarters in New Orleans. Citizens Services was established in December 2004 to "assist persons and organizations who advance the interests of low- and moderate-income people," according to paperwork filed in Louisiana. In a 2006 ACORN publication, Citizen Services Inc. is described as "ACORN's campaign services entity."

Charlie I went to their website. Frankly $800,000.00 is a fair price for what the campaign got. Did you look at the program. It's pretty darn amazing.

Everything you'd ever need to run a campaign in a computer program. It looks all encompassing to me.
Maybe some other people will know better than I how the packaging works.
