They haven't been told the truth.
They are too lazy or stupid to reach correct...conclusions, or
They are biased by their self-interest, dogma, or ideology."

This brings back fond memories of my first involvement in politics

The year was 1962. Location-- Harding Jr. High. Student Council Elections.

The candidates were the popular predictable kids, including the front runner, Betsy Fraundfelder (WFIII--are you reading this) for President.

The campaigning was predictably tame and of course it pretty much boiled down to which clique you were in.

But then, out of the blue, during change of class in the hallway came the buzz--------We're gonna write in Eddie Haskel for president!

I'm thinking the mindset of Ghoulardi prompted this movement on the part of not very suave Harding guys.

All of a sudden, Betsy became the Hillary of the campaign!

The groundswell just mushroomed and we knew that our guy, Eddie Haskell, was going to get the popular (idiot) vote!

On election day, votes were solemnly cast and cast with snickers.

It came time to announce the results. Mr. Wallace, the Principle got on the PA system to announce the outcome-------------

(We were on guard for some "adult" trick to steal this election)

Hrmmmph---"I have the results of the election for Student Council President. Ergggggg, cough cough. It seems that a Mr. Eddie Haskell has come in first and Betsy Fraundfelder has come in second. (papers shuffling in the background). But, we checked the school enrollment records (see above adult trick) and THERE IS NO EDDIE HASKELL ENROLLED AT HARDING!!!!!!!!!! Therefore, Betsy Fraundfelder is elected president of the student council. (Click, PA system switched off)

My political juices are flowing again, seeing the candidacy of Jim O'Bryan for President.

Yours Truly
