It doesn't surprise me at all that they weren't allowed to hand deliver the letter, it makes perfect sense from their viewpoint.

And the turning off of moms doesn't surprise me at all. I have coffee with a group of friends pretty much every morning and lately Sarah Palin has often been part of our discussion. The things we talk about are her stand on abstinence only programs, her stand on abortion rights and her incoherent ramblings in interviews.

As a mom I don't think her beliefs reflect those of my family and I don't think any policies she might help to create would do my family or community any good.

Well it is nice to know that intelligent moms can see her for who she is when others choose to blindly follow a particular party regardless of the effects it could have on thier children's futures! The fact that anyone can defend her ramblings is like Twighlite zone stuff! She makes Dan Quale look smart and worthy.

No darling - kool- aid would actually refer to Jim Jones, who, as a matter of fact, was a member of the same dominionist religious whatever it is, as Sarah Palin is.

Stephen if us intelligent mothers/women were drinking kool-aid we'd be worshipping at the alter of Palin, but since we can see her for more than her sex many of us aren't pleased with her possibly being vp. She does not come off as an intelligent women and her beliefs on abortion and sex ed are disturbing at the least. Give us some credit, we have brains and we use them, even if we are just little women.

Hey I drink Kool-Aid and I love it darn it!!!! LOL. That being said Palin scares me. Her ideas scare me. The one that kills me the most is the abortion thing. Coming from a person (me) who had a child out of a rape I can say that taking my choice away would kill me. Yes I chose to have my child, yes I chose to keep him, but I had that choice. I was able to make that choice. To take that away from someone is horrible. I am able to love my child and get over what happened to me. (years of counseling and help) Some people can't do that. It is hard!!!
I believe in sex education on so many different levels. STDs are out there, we need to talk about that. We need to tell these kids what could really happen. Not just blindly say "hey dont do it till you are married" because if there is a "mistake" on a childs part, and heaven forbid they get something, they are not blindsided by it. We talk about cancer, we talk about other diseases but we need to talk more about STDs.
A person to say that they live so close to Russia makes them experienced in foreign affairs is like saying "Hey I partied in Canada so I have experience too." (which I did...lol) I traveled to different countries and I am not out there saying I have foreign experience. I was lucky that I found a toilet in the streets of france. LOL.
To me she is making women look ridiculous. She is not being taken seriously in many circles, and that makes it hard for us working women to be taken seriously. I can't have her as a leader when she can't lead her way out of a brown paper bag.

That's one of the many reasons why I will not vote for McCain/Palin. Her town charged $500-$1200 to rape victims for rape kits. Palin wants to ban abortion even in instances of rape or incest.

That's why I donated to Planned Parenthood in Palin's name.

I am very much pro-life, but I believe the choice should be up to the woman, not our government.

SEX EDUCATION = LESS ABORTION-ONE OF THE LITTLE THINGS THE RIGHT DOESN'T GET WITH THEIR CONTRADICTIONS.

As for the pot Stephen, I vote for candidates who believe in what I believe in. My children are more important than my ego. If you say the same and you beileve in everything Palin and McCain and Bush and Cheney stand for then that is your right in this free country. Which may not be free for long since we will be owned by foreigners. I don't believe in what this administration or the McCain ticket stands for in any shape or form, from bailouts to hypocrisy religion to war.

The reason it took so long for the men in this country to "allow" women and blacks to finally have a vote in this country is because deep down they know our brains work just as well or better and it scared them to allow us to have an opinion.

So Bret are you saying then that drug awareness/education should also be taken out of schools and "let the parents do that" too? Same with diversity education since it doesn't fit the "academic" mark, and social skills which they now (thank God) have at the elementary level because parents are NOT cutting it all!

Even the 19th century Curriculum theorists KNEW that the curriculum in this country HAD to address the whole child. Sadly, the whole child today includes sex (a high percentage of teens have it and pretending they don't and not offering birth control options creates unwanted pregnancies, abortions and teen mothers who produce more children who enter our schools with problems), and drugs, and all of real life. That is life if we want to be honest. And only when we are honest can we provide more preventative measures for children who just can't make good decisions.

Brain research shows something too about the risk taking that teens do. We have to at least inform them at the earliest levels the harm of drugs, and the risks of unprotected sex., which not only leads to pregnancies and abortion, but death or lifelong diseases. It is just as important as math and science which won't mean much if the other things occur. One of the earliest theorists in the school system knew that creating curriculums that helped children be productive in society and included morals and ethics would turn over in his grave to see where we are. And yes, NCLB has taken us back many steps and forgotten the child like in the 1800's.
