Barack Obama's path to victory in the Democratic party's primary campaign was a viral phenomenom.
In the interent age going viral is defined as the ability of an idea (or in this case a person) to replicate itself (in this case support for his candidacy among the general population). See this:

Has Sarah Palin gone viral? Is her viralization the cause of the revitalization of John McCain's campaign? See this from the Las Vegas Sun:

My best guess is that Palin's viralization of the electorate will continue to election day propelling John McCain to a substantial victory. Perhaps substantial enough for the Republicans to recapture the house of representatives.

God Help Us.
Don't feel too bad. It's still a long shot.
And I am quite confident that if the Republicans do regain control they will see it as an opportunity to get their hands in the cookie jar one last time. And if they do it will be.
