Both Biden and Obama voted for funding the Bridge to Nowhere. Even after getting a second chance to vote against the bridge and have the earmarked funds go to Kartina victims. They both still voted yes. for the bridge. McCain is the only one of the 4 on record that opposed the earmakr funding for the Ketchikan bridge. Yes, Palin originally supported the earmark spending for the Ketchikan bridge but eventually she killed the project.

Steven, if you're half as independent and a quarter as libertarian as you claimed, you wouldn't be playing this game. It was a major appropriations bill covering several departments. If any Senator voted 'No' on the bill, you could have picked a dozen vital and positive items funded in the bill and slammed them for opposing them.

McCain refrained from voting on the bill. He did not vote No.

If by "killed the project" you mean Palin "kept the money after Congress took back the earmark status and diverted it to other pork projects", then you'd be correct.

Palin and McCain's stump speech language on the subject continues to be an outright lie.

does the President presently have line-item Veto powers?

It would be swell to see what happens if legislators had line-item voting. they'd have to think of ways to hide multiple riders in one "line".

giving legislators Line Item voting powers would make a good PRIME TIME REALITY game show.

Now that we have Microsoft Excel it is easier to divide bills into Line Items. The Founding Fathers didn't have this technology.

congressmen get X points for X number of Line Items in a bill. They can spend one point per Line Item, all of their points on one Line Item, and anything in between.

The Line Items become like contestants on CBS PRIME TIME REALITY SHOW SURVIVOR. The top 2/3rds of Line Items in Bill go on Bill Sent to President.
