Half truths.... Joseph Goebbels would be proud of the left wing media in this country. Saddam played a game of chicken and lossed. Under UN Resolution, Saddam was to allow UN weapon inspectors into Iraq . He did not, so the US decided to take action. God forbid that we make a man like Saddam Insane live up to an agreement (terms of surrender).

Which half of which claim is true?
I was in favor of the war when it began, and believe we have an obligation to stay until life is stabilized (though not an obligation to stay forever). The admin. could have tried to PERSUADE the country to go to war on any number of morally legitimate grounds: that Saddam was running a criminal torture regime; that he was a destabilizing element in the middle east; that the US had done a lot to put him in power and arm him, and so now had a duty to right our wrong; that the only solution to Islamic fascist terrorism was establishment of a democracy in teh middle east, and Iraq was the low hanging fruit.
Instead, the president, unable to persuade anyone to walk across the street, decided to frighten the country into war on the basis of WMD based on cooked up intelligence, some of it fabricated after the fact. Read the book "Curveball," by Bob Drogin. None of what he says is remotely deniable.

The real problem here is the republican party. They let the media win the propaganda war
. The media only reported half of the story on the WMD issue in Iraq. The media completely ignored every UN Resolution dealing with Iraq and the issue of WMD's in Iraq. The media completely ignored the history of US military action against Iraq from 1992 - 2002 and what the previous admin had said on the subject of WMD's.
