Absolutely mind blowing.

Thank you so much. I'm sharing it with friends on another forum and it is also blowing them away.

No - She's a slam poet or you could say she's a performance artist.

Not rapper.

That was nicely done and powerful stuff. I can't handle a whole evening of slam poetry as the presentation is powerful but sometimes overshadows content (to me). This was a good representation of it, I think, but I lack enough experience with it to know if it widely thought of that way.

Hmm. " F*** your yellow ribbons. If you want to support the troops, bring them home and hug them."

As we approach Memorial Day, perhaps these brave men and women, who all volunteered for duty, would take exception to being cast as victims. As if their sacrifice was thrust upon them by a draft. This young lady is talented, but I don't think her message would play very well in Iraq --at say a USO event.

This has always been a bad war, an unholy war. (Oil, natural gas, poppies, $$$$)

We, you and I, have no idea what would play well there. That is because everything coming out of it is so filtered, this war is being fought in almost total darkness.

A stat that emerged last month was the attempted suicide rate of these brave, and heroic volunteers, who are beyond a shadow of a doubt our most valuable resource, are armed services. And it is climbing.

There has got to be a better way.

There has to be.

This video was taken down from YouTube who sited a violation of TOS?

Does anyone remember her name?

Some people I know would like to book her.

Through the magic of Google, when one types "for eli" into the search engine, Andrea Gibson comes up as the 4th entry with the aforementioned Bohemian style performance. It is still on YouTube from that very search result.

Found it. I lost my only male first cousin, Theodore ("Ted") Davison Ward, during the Tet offensive. Went to his funeral in 1969. The Eli video hits home....

Ted and I used to hunt snakes and visit relatives and drive cars and stuff. What Andrea is trying to tell us is that these are real people.

For his ultimate sacrifice he gets his name on a wall...

I love you Ted..........
