Seeking landscaper "assistance"

Post by Corey Rossen »

Scenerio: We had an "arrangement" with a landscaping company (that is taking the season off this year) whereas they would take the top soil removed from one jobsite and put it in our yard. This "arrangement" worked for both the company and I because it saved the company from paying to take it to the landfill-- which saved them the $60 dumping fee--which they then did not have to charge the jobsite--which helped them keep their cost to their customers down--which made them look like all stars. For me, it saved me the money from having to buy good top soil.

Question: Any Landscapers looking to unload top soil to help keep costs down and minimize trips to the dump?

A contractor gave you top soil? That's incredible. I can't imagine anyone having trouble finding a willing buyer for top soil, nor can I imagine it goes into a landfill. Now, subsoil, the stuff underneath top soil that is basically infertile and free of organic material, that I can see being a nuisance to get rid of.

Wish I could find a deal like that!

It was the "top soil" (maybe I phrased it poorly) or skim layer of soil removed to make patios, a stone path, etc. It was great soil and therefore a great deal.
