northern Ohio isn't so sprawled out as the newer places.

some optimists have told me it will be possible to retrofit the modern exurbs: just knock out a few mcmansions and put up a few corner stores and elementary schools. Most of the McMansions i've been in are very big on the outside, yet have very few rooms in the inside. they don't even have 2 full floors of rooms. so maybe it will be possible to build 2 or 3 full floors into existing mcmansions.

I'm a little skeptical about attempts to predict the future of American Cities. I'm still waiting for all those heliports. On the other hand the economic and demographic trends noted in the article support its conclusions.

Communities like Lakewood are well positioned to prosper. We have to be careful though that they don't say about Lakewood what they say about Brazil, "Brazil is the country of the future, and it always will be".
