It is funny that Todd, a Republican, wants a longer drawn out primary for the Democrats but the party itself would like the opposite. They certainly want Hillary to win as that will drive more Repubilcans to the polls than any of their own candidates. But McCain is dreading months of being out of race because he can't start spending any of that "presumptive candidate" dollars until AFTER the Primaries. This means he has to sit on his hands while the Democrats, even if sniping at each other, remain firmly in the spotlight. You are only as popular as you were last week and if no one was talking about you last week, it means more running around in the late summer to play catch up.
Huckabee noted that this was one of the reasons he was staying in the race this long. He can't win. The system of delegates put forward by the Republican party doesn't allow this. But he knows that to keep the Party healthy, it needs to be spending money in the spotlight now to keep the name and agenda out there. I am glad he didn't make the bid but it is nice to see some thoughtfulness and party loyalty.
That said, Shemp is my man. Curly was always one-note to me. Shemp had levels, man. Layers.
