Hillary or Obama in Lakewood?

Post by Mike Deneen »

The Democratic nomination grinds on.
Ohio will be a huge key.
Cuyahoga County is the democratic heart of the state.
Lakewood is about as democratic as you can get.

What are the chances we see either of these two in our fair city?

History question.....has a major presidential candidate ever campaigned in Lakewood before? (Kucinich doesn't count)

I'm not sure either would stop in Lakewood. Cleveland definitely, but not sure about a specific stop here.

that would be wild.

one can only dream. Our mayor is "endorsing" Obama so there's another reason to pull him or Hillary to come to Lakewood.

Where would you hold such an event? High School?

Nelson Rockefeller appeared at Lakewood Civic Auditorium when he ran for president.

Once the democratic candidate is picked Ohio is going to be smashed with ads and visits. I could see Obama or Hillary making a stop in Lakewood. Maybe they want to court the Kucinich vote?

I'd be surprised if Jim and his strategists haven't begun to investigate whether one or both of the candidates would be willing to stop by the Masonic Hall and have a 1 hour town hall in the very city that wishes to know it's self better than any other.

If I had a magic wand the hook would be the civic journalism and civic awareness; amplifying and elevating the voices of the citizens; and, the vitalization of engaged citizens.

Both Mr. Obama and Mrs. Clinton have--at least--used language that is evocative of more engaged citizenry.

However, I wonder if they even know how vigorously such an experiment is being conducted everyday in Lakewood.

I tend to default to candidates from the northern midwest states. but don't let my decision sway you.
