I was driving down the street with my uncle (who was born and raised in germany) this past week and he said to me..
"what are those yellow license plates for?"
i explained to him the process and he said
"oh, so it's a trophy?"
not really. so then we talked about how he thinks its morally unjust for pedophiles and offenders to be posted online since there was ONE case of a man going on a website and killing off 7 of those men in a row. He got addresses and all personal info online.
My uncle explained to me that even if you're a convicted criminal you still have human "worth" and dignity in the country of Germany.
For example.
A movie was just banned about a man who killed and ate his victims because it was based on a true story and the man who ate his victims was judged and had fingers pointed at him as a cannibal and psycho.
The man who was the cannibal killer still has worth and it's morally unjust to label him anything even if he's convicted.
When I asked him,
"What if a pedophile moved in next door to you and your family. would you want to know that he has been convicted of raping and molesting 6 children the same age as your daughter before?"
And his response was
"It's none of my business what he's done. It's in the first article of our declaration that ALL people have this "human worth" and that they all are treated the same regardless of.."
OK...
here's where I point the finger and laugh at my uncle and the country of Germany for it's forward thinking...
Pedophile does community service in Kindergarten
Human worth...hah.
