I haven't posted on here for sometime, but felt compelled to post this. As many of you know I have two children with autism, so issues regarding autism are very near and dear to me. Recently we have seen vetoes from the President regarding children's health care. We will probably see another veto very soon, this time regarding funding for autism awareness and early intervention. Early treatment is essential in helping autistic children to succeed. I urge you to read up regarding the possible veto and also encourage you to contact our representatives and let them know where you stand on this issue. Quick update on this. Yesterday President Bush did indeed veto bill that includes money for autism research and awareness funding. The bill has strong support but not enough to override the veto. I am so appalled and saddened by his decision, especially because it came down to $9.8 million dollars too much. Hopefully congress will be able to come up with the votes to override the veto, my fingers are crossed. This is truly pathetic and I will leave it at that.
