Mayoral Debate at Lakewood High School

Post by Ed FitzGerald »

I was recently contacted by representatives of the Lakewood High School student body, who proposed a mayoral debate. I agreed at once, with whatever format they design.

It is tentatively scheduled for Monday, October 15th, at Lakewood Civic Auditorium, from 12:30 - 1:30. I know it's open to students, I don't know yet about the general public.

I'll post more details as soon as I get them. I commend the students of Lakewood High School for taking this initiative in our local democratic process.

Cool.

I hope it is taped for Channel 74.
Nothin' shakin' on Shakedown Street.
Used to be the heart of town.
Don't tell me this town ain't got no heart.
You just gotta poke around.

Mayor George and Councilman Fitzgerald,

I would like to thank both of you for participating in the debate at LHS. My daughter is a senior there and attended. When I got home today, she was sitting in the kitchen with one of her classmates and they were talking about the debate.

It was such a pleasure to hear them tell me about the debate. They said it was really interesting. From the description they gave, it seemed like the kids asked relevant questions.

The fact that you two took the time for a group of kids who are not all eligible to vote speaks well for both of you. I'm sure that mine was not the only family that experienced a lively conversation as a result of your actions.

Again, thanks to both. And having said all that, do either of you know if the debate was taped for channel 74?

Will there be a debate open to the public between George and Fitzgerald? I would like the candidates to ask each other questions.
