What part of "illegal" don't they understand

I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that there are politicians out there that refuse to alert federal authorities when Illegal Immigrants are discovered in their jurisdiction.

The kicker was last night. While watching Fox News, I actually heard a legal analyst put forth the following statement...

"There are over 11 million illegal immigrants currently inside the United States, and the vast majority are living as law abiding citizens."

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!!!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the FACT that they are here "illegally" makes them neither "Law Abiding" nor "Citizens".

To be fair, if you go a mile over the speed limit, you also lose the ability to call yourself "law abiding." Or if you figured you didn't need a permit for that small job on your house, etc. I think the point he might have been making is that, illegal or not as citizens, they are attempting to follow the greater laws of the nation.

Definitely, this is a "let he without sin..." situation. Let he whose ancestors came this country as legal immigrants... and so on. My Irish ones did, sort of...as indentured servants of the aristocracy. My Czech ones, well...

lol! let us be fair! This is not about sin but the law. Illegal immigration is a crime. Why should we reward people who break the law? Illegal immigration cost this country billions and billions of dollars annually. If you drive over the speed limit and get caught then you usually get a ticket. We have laws for a reason. An illegal alien driving over the speed limit is not a citizen nor are they a law abiding citizen of this country. When I drive over the speed limit at least I am a citizen

Correct... It is obvious that the punishment for the crime of coming to this country illegally is not harsh enough.

Why should we punish people for wanting to make a better life for themselves. Who are we too say who does and does not have a right to be here. Whatever happened to helping you fellow man and the needy. Right that went out when the church found out they no longer need that stuff to keep the money flowing in.

Let me anticipate the counterpoint.

Prison? Execution? and like the Mexicans do when it comes to illegal immigration? No! Maybe The US should start tagging these illegals with a cheap Verichip (tag the repeat offender) and let technology assist with this problem. A problem that is costing the law abiding citizen or temporary workers jobs and money. Note: I have no problem with anyone entering this country legally for a better life.

The other part of the solution is beginning to actually monitor and protect our own borders from criminals who want to come here illegally. I would much rather have our military on the US border than Germany or Japan and eventually Iraq.

It takes almost 1/8 of somebody's life to became a citizen. That is insane. How can we expect anyone to 'do it the right way' with odds like that.

You're kidding right?

It would take me FAAAAAAR too long to earn a million dollars the honest way, so I guess you're okay with me robbing banks?

If things are so bad in Mexico, then maybe they should do something about it in Mexico. If the immigration system is broken, then fix it! Simply coping the "if the law doesn't work, just disregard it" attitude sets a dangerous precedent.

First off the only reason it would take you far to long to earn a million dollars the legal way is because you lack the drive, ambition, risk seeking attitude that so many Americans lack. I also lack the make a million dollar attitude. That is why I am content with being middle class. If this truly is the land of the free then everybody should be able to make a million dollars right? No I do not condone you robbing banks.

Some people take the stance that we should deport all the non legals. That would bankrupt the country. Stephen I apologize in advance if I take your stance on the war the wrong way. But that is what is going to bankrupt this country. We blow billions of dollars a week on this horrendously unjustifiable debacle we call 'the war on terror'. We are funding this war on investments form foreign country's.

I am not in support of deporting legal aliens unless they are from another galaxy . The difference between illegal immigration cost and the cost of the war is a budget. The US has budgeted (somewhat) for the war in Iraq. The House must approve the Pentagons budget by the President. Many of the cost associated with illegal immigration is not budgeted for by the Gov. It seems that some local communities end up flipping the bill for illegal immigration with little or no help from the Feds..

Stephen I apologize in advance if I take your stance on the war the wrong way. But that is what is going to bankrupt this country.

On the political level of Dem vs. Repub, we were going to war in Iraq regardless of who was elected president in 2000. I am not promoting any conspiracy theory here. I do not believe that Bill Clinton just randomly decided one day to create the "The Iraq Liberation Act" with out good cause.. And please this is not a criticism of Bill. Bill did not bomb Iraq because of the Monica Lewinski scandal either (I am sincere on that). I also do not believe that members of the Democratic party made statments about Iraq having WMD's just to support Clinton or to further their political careers. Al Gore lambasted Bush sr. in 1992 for ignoring Saddams ties to terrorism. Selective memory is never good for politics (both ways). Selective memory has only divided this country.

No, the cost now are in the 20 billion price range per year. An amesty program that would naturalize 10 million illegas could cost US tax payers trillions of dollars in the future.
