New York authorities were taking extra counterterrorism precautions Friday in response to what they said was an unsubstantiated report on an Israeli Web site regarding a radiological threat to the city."

[quote]“This Jerusalem-based site has achieved recent notoriety for its tip-sheet-like reports from the war zone… Debkafile has been ahead of he pack often enough to suggest that the reporting is good.â€Â

learning

Post by ryan costa »

Radioactive waste is not a cost effective terrorist activity. They should be learning from recent bridge collapses. The government has already promised minneapolis a quarter of a billion dollars for just one bridge. But there have been no televised rock and roll benefit concerts, no inspiring speeches by Clint Eastwood, nothing like that.

Radioactive threats are high profile threats that fail to demoralize: they just act as cannon fodder to rile up reactionary jingoism, which is then harnessed by the Fox News crowd to promote the idea of invading Iran.

This same point was brought up at the annual Al Qaeda meeting in Mecca. More terrorism bang for the buck :D

The U.S. has a less than exemplary record of keeping track of it's nuclear material. Anyone can google the details.

We need to wake up and shut the door before the horse gets out of the barn for once. We are a nation of "It can't happen to us". On 9/11 it did. We still haven't learned.

While we now have many new intelligence concepts in place, apparently they still need to be better linked and working more smoothly.

Debka is a non ideological intelligence web site that provides good intelligence analysis.

Mr. Eisel: You are wasting your time trying to educate people on the very real terrorist threats facing this country. The deniers will deny every threat, oppose every counter measure and scream the loudest about "incompetence and conspiracy" when the next terror attack occurs.

I am hoping that Richard was just joking about Debka and the right wing paranoia things. (tongue and cheek post) That is the way I took it.

No comment on Debka - did not spend any time researching that particular organization or its track-record or idealogical bent. That will be next on my list of things to do.

The organizations that linked to Debka source material, that I came across in a very quick Google, did seem to have an impending Armageddon quality to them.

EDIT

Just spent 10mins os so on Debka - very interesting - including some clarifications on the NYC Truck story that started this thread.

Debka is definitely non ideological. I am not being mean but is obvious that you did not spend any time researching Debka. Aramgeddon is not exclusive to either the right or left in this country.
