117 Target Open
The Westgate Target is also open.
This morning I went to the 117th Target, parked in the first customer space, and was the only customer in the fully staffed, fully stocked store. I couldn't move 20 feet without a sales person asking me if I needed help.
I love Target and it was slightly surreal to have the whole store to myself. This store is bigger, brighter and more stocked with stuff than the old Rocky River Target. The new Targets have wider aisles. They have a Starbucks and mini-Pizza Hut.
I did spend some money there and DH was the big beneficiary, because they had some nice men's Polo T's that were 2 for $20.
Thank goodness I had a time limit.

I can't believe I missed the gift bags at the pharmacy! I even had a nasty cold Buck brew to go for the whole new caffinated Target experience.
I had to remember I'm not single because I came "this close" to going to fuscia heaven. DH doesn't like my fuscia Crocs and he's not entirely thrilled that I've been accessorizing around them. I'm pretty sure he'd like to see the fuscia shoes retired. Had I bought all the fuscia merchandise, I'd probably be single again (and most certainly broke).

I take it back. It does look like Giant Eagle is looking to build a store and GetGo at W 117th and Detroit:

Boo...I stopped in today and they didn't have stocked the new DVD of "Hot Fuzz" because their stock guys couldn't find it. The fun, rambling explanation by the clerk was worth it, though. It seems like a mirror in layout to the RR store, now. I think they have found the layout they like and are sticking to it. I wonder who will survive this battle between Steelyard Commons, Westgate and the Avon Commons? Aren't they all essentially the exact same stores?
Anyway, glad to have a Target slightly closer now than the RR one (though it is almost a wash at this point).

I thought when Giant Eagle took the TOPS store on Detroit that the proposed one at the new Target would be dead.
Looks like I was wrong

I worked at the Clifton & W. 116th Giant Eagle years ago and there were always plans to close that store and rebuild (they wanted the corner of Lake & W. 117th) but protestors didn't want to see the old church torn down and Cleveland wouldn't issue permits. That's one thing I don't understand...it's such an eyesore!
Then they were going to build where the Cadallic dealership was...then that was out. Anyway, now that it appears they're still going to build a new store...I wonder if the Clifton store will close. I would assume so since that was the original plan, but no mention of it in the article.

I believe it will. Giant Eagle has planned to build near the new Target for a few years now. The original plan called for them to close both the W 116th and Bunts location when the new store opened.
I would imagine now they'd keep the Bunts store and the new one and only close the W 116th store.
