"I don't think that Congresswoman Castor still understands the devastating impact it would make on our industry," said Eric Newman, president of the J.C. Newman Cigar Co. and president of the Cigar Manufacturers Association of Tampa.
This is BS... When will the assault on our wallets stop?
Like the luxury tax this will only hurt the working people...
the tax is supposedly to help children afford health insurance.
Since that is so, the tax should be levied against companies in industries which most greatly diminish the quality of most American childrens health. Fast Food, Macaroni and Cheese, Television, shopping malls, cable/satellite television, etc.

and against parents who feed their kids Kool-Aid and McDonalds for every meal
This will be a huge boon for the manufacturers of Humidors. Mine will only hold about 100 cigars. I'll have to drastically increase my capacity before this tax hits. Hopefully many of the large sellers will be able to rent out storage lockers in their warehouses to enable customers to purchase large quantities of pre-tax increase stogies, and hold them for future shipment.

I've been working on a pack of Swisher Sweets since February. I keep them in the freezer, so they last longer.
Once a year I'll buy a pack. When I was a teenager i'd visit my father, and he'd try to make me smoke cigars and drink beer. I drew a hard line back then. Now that I'm older I know better. It would have been funner to drink and smoke as a teenager.
But that doesn't mean it is ok! Just say 'No' to peer pressure, kids. It isn't as safe as it used to be. You could end up as some kind of goth or giant wigger.
Why did they not put a tax where it belongs on the companies that are impacting the health of our children and their ignorant parents? We need a revolution!
