If nothing else, Jim O'Bryan as mayor will give plenty of those comical quotes that we'll be missing with George W leaving office. I know I would like to live in a city that is healthy enough to attack me.

Then try elsewhere.

Good catch. For the life of me I sat here trying to figure out what I meant, then the 6 watt bulb over my head started to hum and smoke.

Change attack with attract.

Yeah that is it.

No attacks in Lakewood

In Lakewood, nothing but help and welcoming. This week I talked with a guy with a background in marketing that is starting the "New Business Development Group." Frustrated by the lack of help in chosing Lakewood and getting started in Lakewood, Joe Buchta has formed this non-profit group to work with MAMA and DADA in attracting and helping new Lakewood businesses keep things straight. His background is in Marketing and New Business start-up. Straight to Lakewood from New York, via Florida.

Also a woman appeared at my door who wants to fire up the welcome wagon, and asked for support. Which was an easy yes! Let's hope she can muster the rest of the support she needs.

Dave

While I have no intention on writing I have spoken with some of the candidates about deabtes.

One told me about his life long dedication to public service, another was willing to debate and the third offered an edorsement.

Meet and greet, Many nights at Bela, office door open.

Stop by bela dubby 13321 Madison Ave. Friday night. I am sure they will all be there for the opening of the photo show featuring the work of Ivor Karabatkovic, David Lay, Debra O'Bryan, Dan Slife and myself.

Jim,
It seems, unless I missed the post, no one has come right out and asked:
With all the support, (check out the amount of posts and views), are you at least seriously thinking about running for Mayor?
Unless the job is just something you'd rather not get into, the LO, among other things your into, has you in a strong position, I would guess.
Add in the other obvious things, well known to many people, a recognizable name, positive statements about things we all care about, even the photographic 'look". Cleaned up you even look like a "Mayor Jim" .

The paper gives me no edge. No more edge than anyone else. The paper is here for all to use and submit stories to. The board is here for all to communicate platforms and ideas.

EVERYTHING on my platform has appeared on the board. Here on the board they were branded as secret society stuff by a few.

My haircut is nothing new. I get one every 6 months or so. It was for the Realtors Seminar which I speak at each year.

There is more going on with the paper than I can go into now. It will not allow me to run for mayor. While I get a kick out of the talk, and with everyone stopping me on the street to ask, it has giving me a chance to speak of other ideas for Lakewood.

Lakewood has a major sewer program that will tie the hands of any mayor coming in. It has to be done.

The real action in this city is on the streets with the residents. This is good news for people like me. We can motivate, underwrite and move many programs forward that should be done by the residents.

I did tell both groups working on this, if the signatures were there, I would have to consider it. Let's be honest the signatures are not there, but I do think I could push the debates into a new realm, while the VAL pushes for the best Lakewood we can be.

Well stated. Maybe next time. I think you'd do the job well. If the signatures are short, I can't imagine it would be by much.

I would not do the job well. Ask my board.

We have Mayor Tom George who is doing a good job, and we have two serious contenders. All three of these guys have given their lives to public service. They have different views of where Lakewood should go.

Luckily my "platform" is set up so that 75% can be done without City Hall. Support would not help, but various items that can build the brand in Lakewood.

My entire focus is doing whatever can be done without tax dollars.

The slogan CLEAN SAFE FUN, is a very easy goal to reach with citizen involvement.

I have to believe we have the ears and eyes of City Hall. The park was well manned with police everywhere. More than one person mentioned the amount of police at Lakewood Park. This built the brand.

I do hope Steve Davis runs if Bob Seelie does not.

Jim OB for Mayor

Post by Dan Shields »

I just came from the Board of Elections. I notice that a James C. O'Bryan of Riverside Drive has pulled petitions for mayor. So, Jim, is it official?

Dan

No it is not official.

However,

I think I can do more in the private sector than as an elected official.

95% of my platform is easier to accomplish in civic space.

My newest endeavors take me out of the city.

To be honest I have no idea how anyone in government can do it.

I am thankful for everyone that is trying to make this city better, even if I do not agree with them, at least they are trying.

Jim in some sense I think you are right. There are less "strings" attached to get the things done you envision without politics being involved.

On the other hand I'm disappointed. Even if I don't always agree with you, I think you would have been an amazing candidate and mayor, if for no other reason than you have such passion for this city, are extremely open with people, and have some amazing vision.

Those are all things that I believe are lacking from most of the candidates/incumbent right now. They may, and I use may lightly, have one or two of those things, but you were one of the only that I think really embodied it all.

There's always four years from now... ;)
