I think Lake is too narrow to be two lanes, but too wide to be one lane without parking. I don't see why the parking is such a big issue.

My best friend lives over on Lake in a side to side double. The people that live next door to him call the landlord and sometimes the police when there aren't enough parking spots in their backyard driveway. Us visitors have to park in front of the house, because we can't block the driveway (they'll call the police) and we can't park in the back. (they'll call the police for that too).

I've never had a problem with the parked cars unless people don't know how to park. I do have to admit that you have to be quite cautious when driving by the appartments and St.Augustines/LKWD Park. It's a school zone anyway, and you should always be cautious, but there's a significant amount of cars that are parked in front of the appartments and I can see where some of you are coming from.

I guess this problem just wasn't thought of. If there's no parking allowed on Lake, then some people will have no parking at all.

I took a couple pictures for anyone who is interested, but who hasn’t been by the reconfigured Lake Road (in Cleveland) yet.

And westbound....

It looks great for the residents. Traffic is calmed, and on-street parking is now available 24/7. It’s not so great for cyclists because the traffic lanes are very narrow, obviously much narrower than before. To stay out of the door zone of the parked cars (eastbound) you have to use the full lane. But in Cleveland, Edgewater Road is available for cyclists.

I didn’t bring a long tape measure but I did pace off the width of Lake Road, both on the Cleveland and on the Lakewood side, in a couple places each. One thing I noticed is that our Lakewood stretch is maybe 3-4 feet wider. Perhaps if we can steal a few inches from the parking lane and the center turn lane, add it to the 3-4 feet extra that we have, we can make the traffic lanes a little wider. Maybe the eastbound lane could have 2-3 feet added, and the westbound lane maybe 1-2 feet, to make cycling a bit less hectic. Lakewood doesn’t have a nice calm parallel road like Edgewater that cyclists can use as an alternate. BTW when I attended one of the Clifton Road public meetings, and asked about bikes, they basically said “take Lake Roadâ€Â
