Public Safety Committee meeting, 6/28

Councilmen Fitzgerald and Dever will hold a public hearing of the public safety committee this Thursday, 6/28 @ 4:30 p.m. at the city hall auditorium.

Chief Malley will participate.

The focus of the meeting will be crime statistics.

I wonder if there is any possibility of also scheduling a later hearing so that working people can attend the session? 4:30 is not feasible for many people.

I'm sure we will have follow-up meetings, and they are usually scheduled later in the evening. This meeting will run until 6:00 p.m. Unfortunately, we weren't able to schedule anything later this week and have both the committee members and the police chief attend.

No rapes in Lakewood in 2005 - 2006 - ridiculous. Even with few women reporting rape there is no way that number is correct - not saying the department is lying - I'm saying that these women were not believed.

And what are the Other crimes?

I cannot attend the safety meeting.

Will someone please question these stats on rape, interpretaion of and breakdown of "Other"?

I would be extremely interested.
