Who has a POSITIVE experience with automatic transmission repairs? I've been told that the kid's Saturn needs a "new tranny". The quoted cost is more than the car is worth. Anyone know of a good reliable mechanic that can do a rebuild for less than an arm and a leg? Any help/recomendations would be greatly appreciated!

Jeff...Call "Puff" at 941-4142. I don't think he does the work at his new location but I'm sure he will give you good information on who can do the job right and not hose you. He used to own Lakewood Shell and Ignition, corner of Madison and Warren.
This is his currant garage number.

A plug for Puff, I'm a former hot-rodder and have been trusting Puff for ages to take care of my cars back when hot-rodding and all my personal and business cars. He's a pro on 40's cars, hot rods and the latest of technology as well. Pure talent when it comes to cars.
He's the kind of guy that does the job right. That sounds like it should be the norm, but as we all have probably found, unfortuntly it isn't.
Not only is he a great guy to call for doing your mechanical work, which he and his cohorts are just flat out animals at it, meaning superb, but he'll offerinfo, like where to take your car for a paint job or for custom this or that.
Great guy, a fountain of knowledge and if I can ever have a hot-rod again, I'll ask Puff to do the things that are beyond my capabilities now that engines are half Starwars as far as my knowledge goes. Give me a carb or blower or even old fuel injection but now I look under the hood of late model cars and wonder if I have my TFH on and should I be grounded to even touch it.
Puff knows all that "stuff".
