I would stop by Joe's Deli first on 117th and Madison because his hours are 6:30-1:30 and is giving a free coffee. Plus he has awesome breakfast specials and the best chicken salad in Lakewood!!!

Madison walk

Post by Dan Shields »

A tip of the hat goes to all the merchants who participated on Saturday. It was exciting to see all the different types of stores and shops, and to meet the owners providing the city with unique, creative shopping choices. I would urge all residents (and anyone else for that matter) to continue to patronize these stores. I hope that MAMA is encouraged to do it again next year!

Yearly? Why not take a cue from Tremont and do it monthly?

It was a great event (and I'm not just saying that because I won!). I have driven by many of these stores hundreds of times and never bothered to stop and go in. There are some really unique and cool shops here.

I would caution against a monthly event....when you have an event to often, it can lose its appeal.

However, I think it could definitely be successful four times a year....spring, summer, fall and holiday time.

The Tremont Art Walk is monthly; every first Friday of the month. They haven't seemed to lose their appeal...

Don't worry it takes so much to organize an event I don't think once a month is possible yet, but look for every other month events. The business owners are really motivated to work together and look forward to new businesses joining each month! They all said they did well! It is nice to just stop in and check out these businesses, as they really work hard. I say kudos to all you who did!
