Crotch Rocket on Arthur
Does anyone know who is blitzing Arthur Avenue? Several times a day some bozo on a red crotch rocket comes flying down Arthur. He's not just WAAAAY over the speed limit but the noise is so bad it makes small children cry. We can hear him approaching from the marginal and then its Katie bar the door as he blows down to Madison.

When I was a kid in Parma someone on an off road motorcycle with no muffler started booking up and down our street one Sunday afternoon. After the third run down, about a dozen fathers poured out of the houses around us, gathered in the center of the street and formed a human chain. When the cyclist stopped he was encircled, verbally berated and threatened by each in turn. The cyclist went off and was intelligent enough not to return. Sort of a vigilante "Scared Straight."

When I was a teenager, there was a moron we had to deal with. Every morning - I'll try to be politically correct here - a possible relative to Jeff Foxworthy in a rusty old Chevy Nova would start on one end of the street and just floor it all the way down. It was loud. It rattled windows. He must have had straight pipes on it. Not even cheapo Thrush glass packs.
It was like clock work. Every morning. My mother called the police. They caught him the next morning.
Hey Jim, did you ever own an early 70's black Chevy Nova?

My list of American cars is very short.
1957 Cadillac limo(1st car I owned)
1967 GTO
1957 Plymouth Cranbrook
1974 Firebird
I did have the blood red 1967 Alfa GTA with stainless steel exhaust that I would drive down Detroit Ave. in first gear
Damn that sounded nice!
As far as the motorcycle, stand in the street stop the rider, tell him your concerns.
If it does not help, get neighbors to back out of the driveway as he goes down the street. I know nothing I fear more on my cycle than people backing out of driveways!
All bikers know who wins the car bike accident.

I'm no lawyer, but I'm thinking that you're much better off with the "I have no idea how those thumb tacks got there" defense as opposed to "I'm sorry, I guess I didn't see him coming"
The other problem is that while you win the collision, you still have to fix your car.
For those of us with other vehicular issues, does anyone know where I can get some police surplus "stop sticks"?

Suzanne,
If you see a pattern of time and/or day this nut flies down your street, record it on a piece of paper. If you get some detailed info, call the LP non-emergency number and give them the info. They'll probably put a detail on it.

Thanks Dave. That's a great idea.
Jim, As a former bike rider I can tell you that stepping into the street in front of this guy is not an option. He's going 75-80 in a very short stretch. Somebody would get hurt and hurt badly.
We've got a pretty good idea of when. We'll formulate our game plan and get back to you.
