Tour de Wings

Post by michael gill »

Tour de Wings: Take the Jaycees Wing Crawl in all its saucey glory, and add your bicycle. That's basically it.

Imagine travelling Lakewood under your own power at an easy pace, stopping here and there with friends to get better acquainted with at least 15 different wing recipes. There is -- and I've checked on this -- no better way to spend a Saturday.

You may not be fit to ride the Tour de France, but there is no question about your fitness for Tour de Wing--a Bike Lakewood-led, scheduled tour of Lakewood's finest wing joints.

Consider: You will not have to go searching for a parking space.

You will not have to pump an extra gallon of gas into your car to cover all those start-ups and quarter mile jaunts from joint to joint.

You will not pollute the air.

You will burn off some of those wings and the sauce in which they bathe while you're making your way to the next stop.

You will meet friendly cyclists.

Many wing joints do, as it happens, serve beer.

Riding a bike is good clean fun, I tell you in the name of all that is holy.

So join Tour de Wing. Contact Bike Lakewood for details, and watch this space for an Offically Approved Schedule.

Apparently I forgot to tell everyone that Tour de Wings takes place Saturday, June 16.

Here are a few other important details, including what non-profit organizations tend to call a "membership perk."

Tickets are $12 for BikeLakewood members and $15 for non-members.

RSVP to tourdewings@bikelakewood.org and we'll arrange for delivering tickets.

Those who RSVP will also get a cell phone # to help locate us if need be.

If it rains we'll meet at the first stop and take Lolly the Trolley.

Mike,
Thay call it a crawl because it is assuned that you wash the wings down with beer. I pretty sure you can get a ticket for bobbin' and weavin' on a bicycle.

I don't know from experience, but sure: cycling while intoxicated is a terrible idea, ticket or no.

Now that we've got that out of the way . . .

Click on that RSVP link, and let's go for a ride.
