Clay tile roof help

Post by Bill Davis »

Hi:

My house has a clay tile roof, and it needs some attention. I'm looking for a roofing contractor that specializes in tile/slate roofs. I've found that this seems to be a specialty.

Can anybody suggest a good roofer?

Thanks in advance.

Brad Smith Roofing in Westlake does tile roofs and has a reasonably good rating on Angie's List.

Thanks Brian.

I'll be polite and just say that Brad Smith has worked on my roof, and I won't be calling them back

I have no connection to them, I just did an Angie's List search. This time I searched on 'slate' and came up with a few more A-rated companies in the area:
Durable Slate Co., Cleveland - www.durableslate.com - (216) 751-0151
(A overall rating, B on price)

Exact Roofing - Lakewood - (216) 226-4131

Thaxton Roofing and Tinning - Westlake - (440) 892-1631
says they do repairs on tile, but not full roofs or gutters

Homestead Roofing - S. Euclid - (216) 382-7677
Might not service west side

Hope this helps.

Brian-

Thanks for your help! I will contact some of those folks and see what they say.

How do you like Angie's List? Is it worth the money to sign up? I went to their website and found out you had to pay to play. Do you get much SPAM as a result of membership? Just curious.

Thanks,
Bill

I'd say if anybody was planning on getting a number of different things done, or a big-ticket item like a roof, driveway or addition it'd be a good investment ($15 to start, $5/month after that or thereabouts). It's helpful not only to see reviews of contractors and other service providers, but also to see the range of prices that others have put out for similar jobs.

I get email from them now and then following up on the searches I've done and asking me to review the contractors if I've had work done. They also send you a little magazine with generic fixit articles and ads. No high-pressure stuff.
