"Democrats struggle with next step on Iraq"

Post by Bret Callentine »

Headline on a recent CNN.com article...

"Democrats struggle with next step on Iraq" as seen at:
http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/02/27/ ... index.html

Wasn't this job one of the new regime? Wasn't this the primary rationale behind the big Dem shift?

AP reports wrote:Swept into power by voters clamoring for an end to the war, Democrats have seen their efforts stymied under realities more complicated than they found on the campaign trail.

but here's the best part...

.Democrats argue that their failed efforts to thwart Bush's war plans will ultimately pay off by ratcheting up pressure for a change.

which comes out pretty strong to suggest what I suspected might happen. The Democratic party doesn't want to kill the goose that laid the golden egg. They took advantage of increase in war weariness to get into the majority, but if they do anything about it now, they won't be able to play that card come 2008.

My prediction is this, nothing will change for the next 10-12 months. The Dems will continue to complain, but will do very little until the point at which they think that any action cannot possibly come back to haunt them.

My favorite part is Hillary stomping her little foot and declaring that she was misled.

Every time she repeats it, I hear, "Hi, I'm more interested in keeping my job or moving up to a better job than in taking a stand."
