Ivor, you are absolutely right. Having a nice romantic dinner at home can't be beat - especially when you aren't the one that has to cook or clean up.
But if you are going out - I kind of think Pier W is a romantic setting.

I'm with Ivor.
I'd prefer to stay in and as long as I'm with someone I love, PBJs can be romantic.
Valentine's Day is important to me because it's one day in the year dedicated to telling people that you love them.
I don't think that it should be limited to romantic love or that love needs to be expressed with expensive gifts or fancy dinners. I think that creates an unhealthy atmosphere.
The most valuable gifts you can give are Attention, Affection and Appreciation. Triple A or get towed away. And you can add acceptance to that recipe.

Seems there was a really good "on point" column in the latest edition of the Observer......Romance is born of demonstrating that you care.
As to dining locations, I would suggest that if you don't have reservation now, you not going to be eating at any of the romantic spots....But, as for the top three, I would pick Pier W, Three Birds and Player's.
For those who are kitchen challenged, there's always carry out from La Pita Express or Szachuan Garden.

For visual stimulation, Pier W has been and is, pretty hard to beat.

Most Romantic Restaurant/Bar/Club in Lakewood?
If you are staying in and don't want to cook, Italian Creations has a great deal with dinner for two, including apps, salads, pasta or entrees, and dessert AND you get wine and roses (all for $50)! There is enough food for sharing! My five year old daughter takes Valentine's Day very seriously and insists she and I put on fancy dresses. She will get the flowers and I will get the wine, my husband and sons will get the dessert and all will be happy!

Italian Creations is one of those "Best Kept Secrets"......for those who haven't experienced their wonderful food (DELIVERED!). I would highly recommend them. I love their Chicken Marsala with Gnocchi, and for those so inclined they have some great Veggie entrees.

I made a reservation with Pier W. At first they told me they were 100% booked, then I dropped JOB's name. Their tone changed completely.
haha
Does Italian Creations also have a dining room? When I have gone by there many times in the past, I always got the impression they just serviced restaurants...guess I didn't know what was going on.

Alas, Italian Creations has no dining room. While they do a good deal of catering, they also have a strong carryout and delivery following.

When I'm not in the mood to cook, Creations is my "go to" delivery.

Hmmm, I think Pier W has an absolutely romantic view ... but I'd never do anyplace like that on Valentine's Day (especially with THIS weather), because it's lame ... if you really want to be romantic, completely surprise your partner on an utterly random day and then take them out for a fancy dinner ... don't just use Valentine's Day as a reason ... be romantic spontaneously!! That's way better, in my opinion!
