First Robins of Spring..and in Lakewood?

Post by Gary Rice »

This morning, on my old fence, a robin sat peacefully.

He was soon joined by his buddy.

Ok, Ok! I know it's not spring yet. (It's actually only two days past winter's midpoint)

But there they were, in all their splendor. In eight degrees below zero.

And yes, they were fed.

Now there are some ornithologists who might tell you that there are probably some robins, (who are members of the thrush family), who never leave this area.

Yeah, right.

Welcome to spring, Lakewood style!

They've returned just in time to be flash frozen.

Ryan,
I'm curious why you consistently find it necessary to make a caustic comment in so many threads? Personally, it is leaving a bitter taste in my mouth.

I must admit that I used to find ryan annoying.

However, I have become used to his odd comments and on some occasions even find them amusing.

I think ryan is an acquired taste.

I can well understand the feelings expressed here, but...

What's that old expression?

All God's children have a voice in the choir,
Some sing low, and some sing higher...

People are not always at the same point in their lives. Some think they are on top of the world, when they are really not. Others strive to be the center of attention in a world that seems not to care at times. Others may be too shy to even bother speaking out.

Ryan, and everyone else, are all welcome on any post that I put up.

We all need to try and accept each other, so far as we can in this crazy world. We do not know what the other is going through in life, or what might drive a certain comment to be made, or what motivated that comment.

As I've said in other columns and postings. We are not "Lakewood for a few". We are "Lakewood for all". That is, all- or none.

robins

It is very sad the robins returned just in time for a flash freeze. I am sorry many of them will be frozen to death.

Not my robins.

Maybe we should start using robin feathers instead of thinsulate and gortex. All this time the answer to fighting off cold temperatures was right in front of us.
