Time for Change

Five out of seven city council members got their start on city council not by being elected, but by being appointed—that's not democracy.
I believe it's time to change our city charter. Article 2.2 grants the power to fill vacancies on city council to city council itself. I believe that power should be in the hands of the people.
It's time to change our city charter and allow the voters of Lakewood to elect those who fill vacancies on city council.
