Cedar Point Road Bride, a construction annuity?

Post by Richard Baker »

Inept and inert best describes the Cleveland Metroparks board and management oversight of the construction. After five years, the grand opening of Cedar Point Bridge was a genre of farce. We can compare the completion of replacing Cedar Point Bridge across a river 150 feet wide with mediocre flow of water as opposed to Golden Gate Bridge 8,981 feet across a strait 377 feet deep from the San Francisco Bay into the Pacific Ocean was competed in five years. Now in its the sixth year of continuing construction, Cedar Point Bridge has been closed to all traffic.

With the constantly changing completion date for “repairs” to the closed Nature Center bridge, the Metroparks has lengthened the detour from Noname Road to Cedar Point Road, to Stafford Road. Incidentally, either the people responsible for placing the Cedar Point Bride closed detour signs for north traffic flow are mentally challenged, or dyslexic.

Never accuse a government body of corruption when sheer ignorance will suffice. However, in this case it requires an independent audit of the Cleveland Metroparks financial documents, the construction bidding and award details, a review of the contacts, payments made, late completion fees that have been excused or not billed, and the contractors association with all Metroparks officials.
