As Lakewood gets our collective acts together, after the storm, the outage, and festivals, and everyone going back to school. I pause to reflect on a couple things, that effected us all, and are breath taking in some ways. 1 Lakewood refuse reported garbage totals, climbed by over 392 tons of garbage for the city. Most of that do to food spoilage. One of the hardest hit was Lakewood Community Service Center, that had to discard all of the food saved for Lakewood families in need. Help them refill the refrigerators.
All of this reminds me of an old subject, burying power lines and cables underground. This was first suggested on the Observation Deck 20 years ago. A simple concept, every time Lakewood repaves a street and does the curbs bury the power lines on that street. By now, we would be mostly underground, not just making the city nicer, but also better prepared for the bad weather we get so often.
Also let’s work on getting LCSC a generator for their refrigerators.
With that said the Lakewood Observer hits the street again with stories, news, information and photos from friends and neighbors. Who are not only sharing them with you, but putting them into the every growing history project called the “Lakewood Observer.”
