As we welcome(?) the heat of Summer, we deliver the next edition of the Lakewood Observer to your hands and eyes. Another wonderful snapshot of life in Lakewood, from a project that has chronicled life in Lakewood like no other group. Over the past 20 years, more than 7,500 people have shared their photos, stories, poems and observations with the city through the Lakewood Observer. We thank you for your trust and support, your recognition that we are here for the residents first and foremost and for all of your contributions through these years.

The  LO is a running log and discussion of all of the topics that are and have been important to Lakewood. At the Lakewood Observer, you can search back to see what happened, when, and what happened after that. Read in depth some of the colorful moments of Lakewood, good and bad.

If you’ve never written or created art or taken photos to share with your neighbors through the Lakewood Observer, maybe it’s time to consider contributing.  There  is no cost and in 20 years we have never shared our contributors’ list or sent pesky bulk emails. We appreciate your participation , and honor your time and privacy.

You can read every story sent to the LO from our search area on the front page. You can read nearly all of the posts, messages and comments on the infamous Observation Deck. To use the search feature you have to sign up with a real name and be approved. It’s that easy. Contributors to the LO  are not anonymous—we use our real names— it’s all about knowing each other and sharing our thoughts, joys and concerns with our neighbors. Like talking over the back fence.

You can pick up the latest installment at over 100 locations around town,
OR download the digital version here:

Have a safe Memoral Day weekend and summer.
