We have entered Lakewood Contest Season, aka “Let’s give some stuff away” season.

So as we announce the winners from the Lakewood Tree Advisory and Education Board/Lakewood Observer “Most Distinguished Tree Contest” WE also announce one of the best Halloween Home Decorating Contests in the state. No other contest has the prizes the Lakewood Observer and our advertisers offer up. Then comes the granddaddy of Lakewood Contest, The Christmas/Holiday Decorating Contest.

We also announce more candidates and prepare for the coming election season. While we all have grown tired of the daily massive helping of politics served up, we also remember just how bad it has been for Lakewood when bad government gets their foot in the door. Look no further than Belle and Detroit. Look no further than Lakewood Schools closing schools, while charter schools are opening all over town. VOTE YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

You can read all that and more, in this issue at over 100 locations around town, and right here in digital form.

Thank you to all Lakewoodites, the original Hall of Fame winning projects. Owned by residents, run by residents, and the product of over 7,000 volunteers.
