The Curious Case of PP # 301-04-061
https://myplace.cuyahogacounty.us/MzE0M ... Requested=
This is the site of the Lakewood Family Health Center. So many mysteries. The City donated the land to the Cleveland Clinic so there is no transfer information. What was the value of the land donated? Hard to say. The lot next door 314-040004 just sold to JP Morgan for $1.8 million. That's $3.6 million per acre. How much is the 6 acre Holespital site worth?
JP Morgan must be flush with cash. They just paid $3.5 million for the old Rustic Building in Rocky River. .7 acres.
The Clinic owned properties in Westlake pay property taxes.
PP 211-17-001 $12,570
PP 213-06-009 $68,512
Clinic properties in Lakewood pay no property taxes.
Mystery on mystery.

Bill,
The Summers Administration, Lakewood Hospital Association, the Lakewood Hospital Foundation, and the long-term provider under contract (CCF) wrapped their goals, plans, and activities in levels of confidentiality and misrepresentation so tightly that even after three or four lawsuits and the abandonment of the site development by the developer (Carnegie); it remains almost impossible to drill down to the actual numbers.
Believe me, we both and others tried to do so. The City of Lakewood took a bath and hundreds of posts on the Deck examine how it occurred. The hole at Detroit and Belle remains a vivid reminder of civic failure.
When I write and talk about the fact that Lakewood has flat-lined and that its planning processes are misguided or moribund, this is the background to ten years or more worth of failure.
I think most residents understand this. It can't be papered-over with more PR.
In my viewpoint, past is prologue.
And, by that I mean, more tax incentives will be directed to developers for projects that never are built. Something is wrong here and we need to face-up to it.

They were elected, the choice of a liberal Democrat city. There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn't true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true.
Nothing will change in Lakewood, it's an imbedded liberal culture.

If the parcel has been merged into another parcel then it no longer exists.
It sounds like a database issue.

Except it does exist. The County values the property at $16.8 million. Taxes are $0ryan costa wrote:If the parcel has been merged into another parcel then it no longer exists.

Nice find Bill. There any many many cases of such "anomalies" in the county records. Going by the map online, it looks
like it is part of 314-04-055 (owned by the school district) and that it was consolidated at some point, but normally the
fiscal officer site says what it was consolidated with. In this case, that information is blank.

Civics' 101, a mayor does not dispose, close, or transfer property with the CONSENT of the City Council. Unless we been electing the inept and inert to the City Council, what makes them exempt from their APPROVAL?

Sorry to change the subject a little, but I have a 3-4 SLH T shirts (L and XL) if anyone is interested. I am keeping one for old times sake (it's also de rigueur when one visits the Lakewood Family Health Center).
