In an ever growing group of stores dedicated to Halloween, Spooky, Creepy, Occult and fun, popping up in Lakewood is "Spellbound," at 17810 Detroit Ave, Lakewood, OH 44107.
They officially opened today at 4PM.
In attendance was Ian Andrews from LakewoodAlive, Lauren Small CEO & President of the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce, Audrey Bucholtz from Lakewood City Hall, and Mayor George's office, and Spellbound owner, Julie Flager de Benavente and family. There is always something special about a ribbon cutting and a new business.

I walked in the door with Lakewood Police Officer Winter, my eyes got adjusted to the lighting. While Officer Winter introduced himself to the owners of the store, Ian Andrews walked in. Seeing Officer Winter he smiled ear to ear whispering to me, "No one can close a street like Winter. His help during Light Up Lakewood was spectacular." Instantly the warm feeling of why I love Lakewood washed over me. Everyone knows everybody in a city with the same density as LA!
I spoke with Julie and she explained how this shop was all her and everything she wanted it to be. It has an amazing section of items for sale, and the presentation is very professional. "I have had this vision for a long time."

Later while accepting the proclamation from Mayor George's office Julie started to cry, and her husband stepped up for support, "This is overwhelming, it is all I hoped for and more. I cannot wait to give back to this city that I love." The some delicious refreshments, some talk about the season. Then the store was filling up so fast we were moved out to the street.
This holiday season, stop by "Spellbound" and check out the place, and the owners. You will love them as much as they love Lakewood. I wish them the best of luck.
