Here is Volume 18, Issue 11 of the act of love and respect for this community, by this community, known as the Lakewood Observer. For nearly 20 years the Lakewood Observer has been the hallmark of accurate reporting, along with a great collection of photos, stories, news, and events you may be interested in. Supported for 20 years 100% by local businesses, who believe that the best communities are informed communities.

I hope this summer you take the time to sign in, and share your stories, your events, your photos, illustrations and observations about Lakewood. Let your addition reside with tens of thousands of stories and over 150,000 images of Lakewood and the surrounding area.

In this issue we kick off the Lakewood Observer/Lakewood Fire Department “Meet The Trucks” Coloring Contest, for little humans 9 years and younger. Simply have your child color the fire truck in this issue of the Lakewood Observer, stop by the Lakewood Observer tent at “Meet The Trucks” and drop it off. A drawing will be chosen, and the winner and his family and up to five friends get a personal tour of Fire Station 1 and the trucks. A huge thank you to the Lakewood Fire Department.

We also take our annual look at the graduating class of 2022, job well done everyone.

And of course we look at Schools, City Hall, businesses and events, all sent in by your friends and neighbors.

Please take the time to sign up, nothing will be sent to you, we never share information with anyone, and you can use some of the incredible features only available to members like our  spectacular search engines for finding photos and stories of Lakewood not just at the Observer, but anywhere in the world.

IT’s ALL FREE thanks to our advertisers, supporters, volunteers and friends.

You can pick up Lakewood Observer Volume 18, Issue 11 at over 100 locations around town, or download the digital version here:

So, after just reading this latest Observer, I feel compelled to respond to the Political ad for Keith Davey . . .

It makes me sick to my stomach to see a Cross in the background of this ad which is painted like the American Flag. I'm not sure what part of "Separation of Church and State" that candidate Davey does not understand.

Our Flag has been claimed by the Conservative political movement, yet it belongs to us all. I was born on the 4th of July, and have always respected our Flag. It belongs to ALL of us, not just those who espouse conservative beliefs. Our Flag has been hijacked for political reasons and this is truly disturbing.

A red, white and blue cross is an affront to us all.
