Lakewood High School artist's work displayed at CIA

Post by Ivor Karabatkovic »

Fellow Observers,

Join my family and I in celebrating my artwork, the work of three other LHS Students and other outstanding artists in the Cleveland area next Sunday at the Cleveland Institute of Art's main building (Gund Bldng).

I recently was awarded a Gold Key for a individual photograph and my senior Photography Portfolio in the Scholastics Arts and Writing contest, which showcases the works of the top artists in the region and country. Now that I have received a Gold Key for my work, my portfolio and photograph will travel for New York City for national judging.

From Monday, January 15th, the Gold Key winning artwork will be hanging in the Reinberger Gallery at the Cleveland Institute of Art. The gallery will be up until February 3rd, 2007 and viewing hours are Monday thru Saturday, 9am to 5pm. (no admission fee!)

for more information on the Scholastic Arts and Writing Contest, including potential recognition for regional and national winnners, visit their website:

Hope to see many of you there!

Ivor,
As you know, I am unable to be there on Sunday but look forward to making a trip to CIA to see your work. What well deserved recognition for you.
My heartfelt congratulations,
Heidi

Got a call today, and the awards ceremony is from 1-2 on sunday...and space is very limited and only "family" is allowed to come. from 2pm to 5 i believe is the open viewing to anyone.

so if anyone wants to come down to the Cleveland Institute of Art on sunday, feel free to after 2pm!

Just got a letter telling me I won a seperate award called the Herb Ascherman Award. Some students get additional recognition from one of the judges, and this has only happened once in the history of Lakewood High School. The first time was last year, and I am the second person in the history of LHS to achieve this. Kinda thrilling!

Ivor

Certainly they would admit members of the media and your Observer family.

We are very proud.

Congratulations, Ivor.

This is great news.

Sorry you can't have all your "brothers and sisters" with you. CIA really has no idea just how big your family is.

Ivor for mayor?

I'll be voting this fall, I'm looking forward to it. This will be my parents and my first election, so it'll be a cool experience.

I still have to go to the post office for my passport, but I'm doing that tomorrow. woohoo!

Jeff,
my desk is cluttered with scholarship forms and college brochures. My GPA sets me back a ton. Doing volunteer work doesn't look too great when you have a GPA like mine haunting over it. We'll see. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best, I tell myself that every day.
