Well, well, well here we are once again, the final paper of the year. What a year it has been too. Not just the COVID-19 blues and nightmare, but the election, and everything that happened in and around Lakewood. This just happens to be all noted in the “Lakewood Year In Review” piece by Matt Kuhns.
We also have the scoop on the updating of the Lakewood Public Library Madison Branch. While many residents of Lakewood have never even been in the Madison Branch it is heavily used by residents on the east side of Lakewood. Ward 4 also happens to be the mostly densely populated part of Lakewood. Judy Grzybowski and team give us great insight into what we can expect.
Speaking of Wards, this edition contains Holiday Greetings from the Mayor and City Council, and Buzzy’s review of a band that obtained 4 out of 5--a rare score indeed for our local/national music reviewer and radio DJ. We get a quick peek at Heather Hansen’s art on display at the Root Cafe. An important story from First Federal Lakewood on COVID-19 scams and what to look for. Also a look back at the life of Steve Davis, one of the Lakewood Observer’s co-founders and a great Lakewoodite.
I would love to thank all who have taken part one way or another this past year. I truly appreciate the effort, and the camaraderie of putting this together every two weeks or so. I would especially like to thank Betsy Voinovich, Deb O’Bryan, Margaret Brinich, Rob Masek and Mayor Meghan George for the help. To the advertisers, many that have been with us for more than 16 years, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Thank you to Woodstock BBQ, India Garden, Melt, West End Tavern, Root Cafe and Gordon Tower Insurance for the prizes this year and always for our various contests. Don’t forget we have our Holiday Lighting Contest going on right now! To enter a house go to: http://lakewoodobserver.com/daily-question/2020-12-12
There is no charge associated with this contest, it’s FREE!
I look forward to the coming year, and the days when we can all party together.
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa or whatever you enjoy celebrating at this time of year. Peace and Love.
