Re: The Burden II
Lakewood Is The Suburb With The Highest Number Of Cases In Our County
Under the methodology used by its own vendor-under-contract (the Cuyahoga Board of Health "CCBH"), the City of Lakewood (Zip Code 44107) is the suburb that has the highest number of reported Covid-19 cases in Cuyahoga County.
--A dubious and unwelcome distinction for Lakewood in anyone's book.
(For those who may disagree with the CCBH's presentation by Zip Code map each Friday, this is what we paid for and this is what we get).
I gracefully concede Mr. Liston's point that the data could be depicted in a different manner under a different methodology as he has demonstrated.
However, I standby what I have written here with respect to the Map dated October 30, 2020 that I posted on Friday.

Re: The Burden II
I'm not here to play games with you.
If you have an affirmative argument to make about why bars should not have reduced hours of operation or should receive municipal support with free permanent access to public property, you should make it.
This is not Twitter and I will not act as if it is.
Tim, Parma exemplifies the point that we are both trying to make. --That the methodology used by CCBH for its weekly maps may be flawed. Parma has three Zip Codes and they have to be aggregated to exceed 44107.
Guess what, we are stuck with this methodology and we've paid for it. $284,000 in 2020 and similar sums for 2021 and 2022.
I have already conceded that I lack the actual data to make my primary arguments respecting bars more robust. I have also acknowledged that the CCBH data can be presented alternatively.
I am happy to engage in a longer discussion, but not in snippets.
As a citizen, I will treat you with respect and dignity.
Be well. Stay safe.

Re: The Burden II
A grossly oversimplified meme on Facebook sums up for me the meaning of the very high number of COVID-19 cases in Lakewood.
The spread of Covid-19 is based on two factors:
1. How dense the population is
2. How dense the population is
Oversimplified or not, that's all officialdom in Lakewood needs to know.

Link To Video of November 9th HHS Committee Meeting
The video is posted at this link.
http://lakewoodobserver.com/forum/viewt ... =7&t=26117
Important update from Dr. Allan of the Cuyahoga County Board of Health on Covid-19.
This is important to see!
"Big surge"
Covid-19 fatalities swamp prior year flu deaths.
"400 cases reported every day".
"Multiple chains of transmission. Numbers climbing. Fatalities increasing".
State mask mandate has helped.
"This huge surge" in next week's report.
"Cases rising"
"Hospital staffing impacts" as utilization increases.
"Concerning trend" "10% positivity rate."
"Increase in asymptomatic cases"
Positivity rate also increasing in nursing homes.
...Vaccine discussion... (about 17 minutes in.)
Summer-time next year (!!!)
Masking seems to be working in many settings.
House parties are a problem...
"Surge that we are experiencing"
"Lives are in the balance"
" Lakewood has a very high rate of contagion" (Litten and Allan)
Cases 20 to 29. Concerns about bars. Not following guidance in those settings.
Cross community contagion is an issue.
(School discussion starts about 27 or 28 minutes into the virtual meeting).

Re: The Burden II
Thank You Each and Everyone!
First, I want to thank Mr. O'Bryan and the entire Lakewood Observer team for providing this platform.
More importantly, I want to thank each of you for taking time to read these posts and provide your commentary.
Given the news today (November 13th), the speech of Governor DeWine this week, and the presentation of Dr. Allan (CCBH) on November 9th, there is nothing meaningful for me to add to this topic.
All public media sources point in only one direction.
Be well. Stay safe.
