Ohio, Lakewood, You All Suck At This Pandemic Stuff

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

Map shows 696, I have heard people that should know 600, and then others that really know way over 800.

Doesn't matter, in a week or two it will be over 1,000 cases.

As we move into fall this article underlines how it will linger and spread.

https://weather.com/health/coronavirus/ ... rs-indoors

Not a political statement, if the American people, hell with the politicians, had listened to professionals, and used a modicum of critical thought.

Now the virus spreads and mutates at will. No real testing, no real plan, no real answers.

Have a great Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, New Year whatever we used to celebrate in groups with family.

Those refusing to be sensible, over their rights have taken them away for 2020, and from what I am hearing until 2025.

When did the loudest, most obnoxious, uneducated whiners become those that set the tone and future of America?

It's not Lakewood. It's not Ohio. It's not even the US. The entire world sucks at this.

France is headed to a month long shut down just to get a handle on it. Italy will be next. The only way to handle this are these lock downs and wearing masks.

I was listening to a Dr. on TV that had been with the CDC. He thought America is far beyond contact tracing, and until we can get the numbers under 20,000 a day, it will just get worse. With the virus mutating, and Americans confusing selfishness with "rights" this continues through 2025.

OR, everyone gets serious for 4-6 weeks and we try again.

This holiday season will be bleak, and the Don burns the country down while leaving.

You are at once more optimistic and as pessimistic as I am. He's likely to burn that mutha down regardless, and I refuse to get optimistic about this election.

What can we do that is under our control? The City has to get over its fear of a Tony George lawsuit.

Dan

I wish you were correct on the lawsuit, but fear that is the least of their worries.

I can think of only maybe one person on Council that is not about spending their night quaffing a craft beer or eating out.

I would say that I find it amazing how strong the restaurant/bar lobbying effort is in Ohio.

If all you have is a hammer, everything begins to look like a nail.

I have had some amazing conversations with friends of mine over the past week or two. They are losing it.

If you remember I had a post about this way back in the first week of May, when everyone was trying to act like Italy or NYC, and we were 3 days into a suggested lock down.

My comments were taken as being harsh, but what everyone was saying things were not bad, and people were desperate to be as cool as... Instead of taking things slowly work on a plan for 2021, 2022, 2023. Because let's be serious COVID-19 isn't going anywhere soon. From the very sources I have quoted throughout this and seem to be both the most realistic, and the most correct, "normal does not return until we can control the virus." Schools, don;t come back, live concerts don;t come back, family parties do not come back, holidays do not come back until all of us make the small sacrifice of wearing masks, social distancing and a month shutdown to put out the fires. Even then it will be everywhere but at a level that contact tracing, and mitigation can work. Then we can get serious.

The way Taiwan has done it, no cases for 5 months. Shut it all down, get contact tracing and testing everywhere. If someone tests positive they are immediately put in quarantine at home. With serious financial penalties for break confinement. At the same time if you are in quarantine you and all effected members of the family receive $600 a week to live on. After one month after last positive test, you are allowed back to work. Massive penalties for not reporting illness. Even with that the masks will remain forever.

GET IT, normal does not come back, mostly because no one could actually do it back in March.

Yes other countries are experiencing spikes. But they are being managed and tamped down without the major loss of life and $$$$$$ for hospital visits.

The longer we argue these simple points, the longer and farther we get away from anything reminding us of "normal."

Which brings me to sources for information. When someone claims masks don't work. What do they have invested in or to lose? When someone says "We must go back to school." How do they make their money? Coaching? Teaching? We are seeing a complete meltdown of America between politics, COVID, and the world. Time to crank up your critical thought and get things straight.

NOTHING CHANGES until we get COVID under control.

One thing, and I know this is preaching to the choir, but if you haven't already, VOTE for a presidential candidate who takes COVID-19 seriously. Everyone here knows who that is. Biden.

The main health problem we have, and point of difference with the rest of the world, is in the White House.

Trust him, he's right

Mr. O'Bryan has been ahead of the curve on the impacts of this coronavirus even before it was officially named.

Mr. O'Bryan is more informed and more thoughtful on this topic than any local elected official.

There is only one issue in Lakewood and that is Covid-19.

In 2021, there will only be one issue in Lakewood--Covid-19.

It is as simple as that.
