It would now seem that the last administration was preparing a mass grave for coronavirus victims. Especially as it is deadly to diabetics, and elderly. Something Lakewood seems to have an abundance of.

Well, as we no longer have a full service hospital to quarantine or even take care of large numbers of people, perhaps it was the plan all along?

Good news!

The CDC claims that by next week they will have up to 40 places to process modified tests for coronavirus! That is 40 places to process all tests, well not really the test, but something they are working with until they develop a real test.

Doesn't matter, your doctor cannot administer the test, only those handful of places approved by the CDC.

On the good side, no one knows they are contagious until it is too late, and people are testing positive for it, after they got over it and can still transmit disease.

OK not that good. How about this, our Family Health Center has seating for up to 100 people while waiting for testing and treatment. I mean if they had it and could do it.

OK the real good news, Mitchell's has not completely ruled out moving into One Lakewood

If you have diabetes, not only are you likely to have a more severe case of Covid 19, you are actually more susceptible to catching it!

This may present a problem in Lakewood as the Cleveland Clinic community surveys indicated a high percentage of residents have diabetes.

I think it is all over blown.

I mean what are the chances of it coming here?

A person is contagious almost from the moment it enters your body. A person can transmit before feeling any symptoms, if indeed they ever feel symptoms. Many have not felt any illness at all. Still they can transmit the disease. And then, when a person is over the disease, they can still transmit the disease. 15% will never know, 65% will just get very ill, and 9% or higher will be hospitalized and or put on a respirator. 2-3% will die. As of right now.

Only 45 known cases in America, most in California and NYC. I mean who travels to those places? Who comes into contact with people at those airports?

Yeah Trump is probably right on this one. "It will magically vanish..." or as Buddha would say, "... It won't."

Today they were talking the fallout on Formula One schedule and if there will be a schedule. That is a $50+ billion dollar global show.

Hell they are all ready running low on supplies on the docks on California.

There was an excellent presentation on the Thursday edition of "The Daily," a podcast from The New York Times. It was an interview with a reporter who has been covering pandemics for many, many years. Indeed this is serious stuff.

- yes, it will decrease in intensity in April but will be back with a vengeance in the fall.
- yes, Trump fired his contagious disease specialist to replace them now with Pence.
- my observation is that certain supplies, like facemasks, are already selling out, but aerosol transmission is s lower possibility than physical transmission - touching things.
- when CDC says "prepare", they mean get ready psychologically for a long, terrible pandemic; not to rush out and buy stuff.

A very smart use of that that land, one that would require more than an ounce of vision but at least two ounces, would be a temporary regional treatment center/hospital for the coronavirus. From what I read it will attack full strength toward the end of the year, so there is time. There certainly are obstacles, but if people truly have the good of Lakewood at heart, they can do it.

Stan, I don't know how interested Metro would be. The original proposal was made at a time when they were planning their big renovations to the main campus. Those would have included Lakewood Hospital, but that ship has sailed. However, Metro would be the one health system to take the lead in a regional coronavirus response.
