Has Sam conceded yet?
It's been a week and last I heard, he hadn't. Maybe he did quietly to Meghan George, and that should be revealed. Transparency and all that.
In the meantime, let's keep this thread alive until he does concede.

Re: Has Sam conceded yet?
Here's an email I just received from Sam's campaign. Note that it says nothing about losing or conceding, although it uses the words 'great disappointment':
--
"Friends,
In the days following the election, I struggled to find just the right words to express my gratitude to those of you who supported me and continue to show your support in spite of great disappointment in the election results. Together, we traveled an exciting and exhausting journey, sharing a love for Lakewood and a promising vision for its future. I will be forever grateful.
I hope those of you who joined my campaign because you care about this city will remain engaged and actively involved, because you are the real drivers of Lakewood's progress. You deserve a voice in the decisions going forward that will determine Lakewood's future. After meeting and talking to thousands of residents over the course of my campaign, I remain convinced that Lakewood's best days lie ahead- as long as people like you remain active and courageous.
Thank you, again, for all that you contributed; for your time, your talent, and your treasure.
Yours in service and gratitude,"

Oh, only you and your supporters are responsible for anything “good” in Lakewood? Pretty arrogant.hope those of you who joined my campaign because you care about this city will remain engaged and actively involved, because you are the real drivers of Lakewood's progress.
But the most hilarious quote:
Like they don’t have one? That could be taken several ways, Sam, none of them too flattering to you and the good old boys that have run this city. You want an uprising? You deserve a voice in the decisions going forward that will determine Lakewood's future.
Gosh, you sound EXACTLY like TRUMP.

Councilman O'Leary was promised the Mayor's job in exchange for his support of the Master Agreement. I am sure he feels betrayed. Don't discount the possibility that even now he and his supporters are working to sabotage the new Mayor.
Council's choice for Meghan Georges replacement will tell us a lot.

Bingo! He is a petty little man (both literally and figuratively).Bill Call wrote:Councilman O'Leary was promised the Mayor's job in exchange for his support of the Master Agreement. I am sure he feels betrayed.
There is no doubt that Team Summers is currently working to undermine Meghan.Bill Call wrote:Don't discount the possibility that even now he and his supporters are working to sabotage the new Mayor.
However, don't expect Sammy to have any leadership or public role.
Team Summers/Budish recognizes that O'leary is a "toxic brand" (just like Marx, Nowlin, Anderson, Madigan, etc).

Dan
Sam O'Leary conceded in a call to Meghan George election night.
Now the question was it before or after he was referred to as "the worst candidate ever!" attributed to the worst gubernatorial candidate ever.
Sam O'Leary, the boy that I might nearly a decade ago, dreamed openly of being Mayor of Lakewood. He had vision and a desire. Longtime, hardcore Democrat with a capital D. Along the way, Sam like others lost their way and decided it was far better to be a tool of others, than the person and leader they thought they could be. This is not uncommon in the City of Lakewood. Political success has nearly always depended on "clan" politics, which is screwed up.
Many promising politicians lost their minds, souls and morals chasing the next rung of the ladder instead of simple doing what is right.
Here is the one thing I know, and I am sure we can all agree on. The election of Meghan George is but a small step towards City Government responsible to the residents and businesses of Lakewood. The step is merely towards daylight, transparency and understanding. It is not a cure for everything to come from the worst back to back management team in Lakewood's history (FitzGerald/Summers). Were they always wrong? No, but again both lost their ways, both could have served the people instead of only their $upporter$.
I believe we are about to see an interesting period in Lakewood's history. Not divisive bitterness, something his supporters thrive in through every method they can muster. So there was never any healing had he been elected. So with Meghan we have a chance to go back to a friendlier Lakewood.
Will they try to make her fail? Who knows, the only thing we know is the "secret government" is capable of anything, legal or not. So let's do what we always do, Observe and share the observation. AND! Keep an eye on City Hall, where our new Mayor has management experience, but not a lot of Mayor experience. I have spoken with Meghan once since the election, she has a good transition team, and a clear vision where she wants the City of Lakewood Administration to be on January 5th when she takes over*.
* I have zero knowledge of any meetings, interviews, offers, jobs, etc.
