O’Leary and Neff Puppets?

Post by Bridget Conant »

If anyone bothered to read that political mailer from the “Corrupt Government” group, it appears that Sam O’Leary and Tess Neff are one in the same person!

At the least, they aren’t thinking independently because under their “key issues and platform” statements, they each, word for word, used exactly the same statements.

Take a look!

“Maintains public safety and core city services, creating a new senior center, continuing responsible development in the city.”

Now please, you may have aligned interests (with corrupt county government) but you can’t make your own statement of what you plan to work for?

Who is putting words into O’Leary and Neff’s mouths?

Neff is a puppet of Fitzy, who her husband has worked for.
It’s amazing that her candidacy is flying under the radar....she is part of the most corrupt county government in the United States.
In most places that would be considered a point of shame.
For Team Summers, it’s a reason to run for office.

"...continuing responsible development..."

I would be interested in understanding what this phrase actually means.

There are a couple of embedded assumptions in the phrase.

It assumes, first of all, that the current development in the city is responsible.

No one believes that the liquidation of Lakewood Hospital in order to demolish the hospital building, donate $7,000,000 to the benefit the client of the former mayor, and then give that client the real estate for free ($1) was responsible, or even reasonable.

In fact this entire election is only about how irresponsible and unreasonable those acts were and are.

What I think we can actually understand is that Ms. Madigan and Mr. Kelly support the continuation of irresponsible development in Lakewood; irresponsible development that is massively supported with public assets and public funds for purposes of questionable cronyism.

How responsible was it for the City of Lakewood to award the redevelopment contract to the client of the former mayor? This simply reeks of the worst kind of cronyism.

Is this the future of Lakewood that we seek? No, but it is the future that we are stuck with.

The only unresolved question is just how much more mulcting of the citizens we will have to endure in the name of "economic development".

The tally on that mulcting is now tens of millions of dollars.

For what, luxury housing that no ordinary resident of Lakewood can afford?

Candidate O'Leary offers continuity on the enacted policies and policy outcomes of the worst mayor in the city's history.

I have no idea of what Candidate Neff stands for. Likely the same.
